Comments  (English):
Otel Melita is located in Aksaray, near a major metro stop, city-wide bus service, and the Tramway. Location was great. The room, #203, was small, but adequate for a single budget traveler. The bed was firm (not my favorite thing, but I got used to it). The bathroom didn't have a bathtub, but an adequate shower with great water pressure, hot water always, a hair dryer, soap, towels, etc. No frills, but everything a light budget travel left at home. The view was good, with a clear line to a neighborhood mosque and good vocals to the 5x day prayer calls, the deck looked onto a street that felt like a very regular Turkish street with lots of locals, food, cay, and lively Kurdish music. There are several internet cafes next door, I recommend the one that is right next door, as the staff is very kind, clean and efficient computers. Don't expect to be able to speak English at that café though. My only real complaint with this location of the room is that the pub next door plays really loud music until wee hours in the morning, so if you're really needing a sound night's sleep book a room in the back. You'll get the sleep but forfeit the view, a fair trade off. The receptionists and bell hops are super friendly, especially Hassan, who's English and kindness is great. The others speak at least a little English and can get their message across. Ahmet the sales manager is great and very helpful. Finally, the maid service was great, with fresh towels, sheets, and toilet paper daily.
