For three years my friends and myself participated in the Europe-Asia Crosscontinental Bhosporus swimm and for this occasion we have always stayed at Chambers of the Boheme. The owner is always there, willing to help even with extra tasks.I have also seen the improvements done to the place (new windows, extra capacity etc).

Overall I am quite satisfied with the hostel. It is located in the center of the shopping centre of the city, bars are all near, and the owner was friendly and helpful. It is not always that clean (but hey it's a hostel) though, and it can be noisy outside of the hostel. Also, you can clearly hear guests using the toilet and shower facilities....

I would highly recommend the Chambers of the Boheme to anyone traveling to Istanbul who wants to stay in Taksim. The beds were extremely comfortable (such a nice surprise!), and the bathrooms are kept very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included - it's only bread and jam, but that's about as good as you'll get in Taksim.

A couple of things to keep in mind - there are no lockers, so even though security in general is pretty good, you'll want to keep your valuables on you at all times. Also, it's in a fabulous location, right near all of the bars and clubs, but unfortunately that also means it can be fairly noisy on Friday and Saturday nights.

Boheme is located in Taksim, the heart of nightlife. It is close and convenient to metro and bus service - less than a five minute walk (Bus 96T goes straight to the airport for 3TL). Rooms are clean and baths are clean with plenty of hot water. Ahmet, the proprietor takes pride in the fact that he keeps a nice place; although, he tends to tease everyone that arrives by telling them he cannot find their reservation (THIS IS NOT FUNNY!) and his smoking comes up the stairs if you leave your door open. One downside is that the nightlife can be pretty loud until 4AM, so make sure you have good ear plugs - by the way, the front rooms are quieter in that regard than the back rooms. It is a good safe location, reasonably sized, clean rooms, some with verandas. Breakfast is standard 3 olives, bread, and tea, which I think could be improved. Lots of restaurants, stores, theatres within 30 secs. 15-20 walk down the hill to Galata Tower and the bridge.

"Chambers of the Boheme - what a great experience."

we had written in our reservation, that we will arrive at 7h in the morning and the answer (telephone call!) was, that it is no problem.
the day we arrived it was a problem, we came with our luggage and waited on the street until the hostel was opend at 11h :-( four hours waiting and the really strange receptionist (unfriendly and unkind) made us feel angry. but the rooms are okay, toilet and shower are clean and new. if you see the price, the breakfast was okay too.....all in one: grade BB
